Accurate and actionable insights are key to our mission of building stronger workplaces. Data and analytics play a key role in our product strategy, daily operations, and the choices we make as we run our business. At HqO, you’ll help by acting as a senior engineer on a growing team of data platform engineers responsible for building the platform that powers those insights. Reporting to the manager of data platform engineering, you’ll work closely with other engineers on the team and partner with data producing teams to ensure data integrity and quality. You will have a hands on role building and designing a scalable modern data infrastructure.


  • Build batch and streaming data pipelines with modern open source and internal tools
  • Create APIs to consume and deliver high quality data
  • Act as a consultant to upstream data producing teams to ensure data integrity and quality
  • Create automation to make building new pipelines easier
  • Create monitoring and alerting to ensure data pipeline health
  • Mentor junior engineers


  • 5+ years of experience as a data engineer or full stack developer with a passion for data
  • A strong sense of ownership for your work
  • Deep experience with a modern cloud data warehouse such as Snowflake, Redshift or BigQuery
  • 2+ years of experience working in a modern cloud infrastructure such as AWS, Azure or Google Cloud
  • A strong bias towards automation and CI/CD
  • Strong proficiency with Python or Javascript
  • A passion for system design
  • SQL proficiency and familiarity with dimensional modeling best practices
  • An understanding of how databases work under the hood
  • Exposure to Docker and Kubernetes
  • Experience and passion for working in a fast-paced, high-tech and customer obsessed environment.

Bonus points:

  • Experience working with modern ETL technologies such as a Fivetran and Stitch
  • Experience working with data streaming technologies such as Kafka
  • Experience working with Terraform
  • Experience with microservice architecture
  • Experience writing helm-charts and composing docker files
