POSITION DESCRIPTION SUMMARY:

The primary function of the Operation Manger at New England Waterproofing is to manage the performance of all operations for New England Waterproofing.  By managing day-to-day activities, monitoring and analyzing the current system of production or provision to check its effectiveness, and working out a strategy for improving.  The Operations Manager oversees the company operations by overseeing a team of division managers/project managers/supervisors/technicians and directs the day-to-day project operations of the company. To coordinate formally, and with full disclosure, transfer specifications, requirements and performance strategies to the President of all facets to meet overall organizational goals.

This position requires an individual with expert knowledge in the waterproofing/restoration construction industry as it pertains to labor, equipment and materials, and procedures for completing the jobs assigned in conjunction with approved construction methods, and within approved construction codes.

This individual must have strong leadership skills, and be able to communicate effectively with the President, Division Managers, Estimators, Field Superintendents, Project Managers and with the Estimators, Field Superintendents, Purchasing Agents and Project Managers of our customers.

This position requires a self-starting, take charge individual, who is motivated and possesses strong interpersonal skills.  S/he must be able to motivate, train and monitor employees by maintaining company guidelines and ensuring that the standards of performance are met at all times.  The Operations Manager must be able to delegate responsibilities; objectively evaluate the performance of others; ensure customer satisfaction, and be able to hold others accountable in a constructive manner. This position requires full accountability using department budgets and job costing reporting.  Attention to detail with an eye to risk management and maintaining cost and profit targets is essential.

3.1          Education:
BS or BA in a related construction or engineering field or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

3.2                    Experience:
Minimum of ten years experience in the waterproofing construction industry with at least five or more year’s successful management experience is required.

3.3                    Language Ability:
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.  Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.  Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and employees.

3.5                    Reasoning Ability:
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret technically complex design instructions from plans and specifications, and to apply those interpretations within building code and on-the-job safety standards.

3.6                    Skills, Knowledge:
Be able to read and understand plans, specifications, schedules, contracts, building codes and other various tools and forms of communications used on construction job sites.  Have expert knowledge of materials, equipment, and tools commonly used in the construction process.

3.7                    Computer Skills:
Must have sufficient knowledge of computers as it relates to various industry operating software, project management, word-processing and spreadsheets.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
 
    1. Working with the President, Division Managers, Estimators and Field Superintendent(s), develop the goals and objectives, including the systems and standards for implementation of the New England Waterproofing operations function. 
 
    1. Develop and implement the project schedule in logical steps and budget time required to meet deadlines.



 
    1. Work closely with other division managers with the development and implementation of labor requirements and dispatch workers to job sites.
 
    1. Inspect and review projects to monitor compliance with building and safety codes, and other regulations. Obtain all necessary permits and licenses.
 
    1. Evaluate and maintain a Fleet Management system; not limited to evaluating existing fleet, procurement and set up new fleet vehicles.  Maintaining an up-to-date listing of fleet repairs and warranty. 
 
    1. Ensure compliance with federal, local, Company, customer and industry safety standards.
 
    1. Maintain a high level of communication between the operations and Division Managers to ensure that all projects are productive.  Allow sufficient time to respond to problem situations in a timely manner.  Not limited too; equipment, tools, manpower and safety.
 
    1. Oversee and assure implementation of a quality control process and standard systems for all operations at New England Waterproofing.
 
    1. Train, motivate and manage subordinates to achieve their full potential and to gain a thorough understanding of the Company’s performance and margin objectives.
 
    1. Develop a weekly overview, communicate operating issues, performance, plans, goals and results to the President. 
 
    1. Assist Division Managers and/or Project Managers as needed to assure that the project schedule is being maintained, that labor, material and equipment costs are at or below budget and that quality control, safety and customer service standards are met.
 
    1. Participate in developing and implementing company policy, procedures, goals and objectives regarding company standards, operations and project management.
 
    1. Oversee or manage all production management activities such as labor and materials.  Maintain inventory control with minimizing cash flow exposure and maximizing inventory.
