Pear's second product, reSET-O™ for the treatment of Opioid Use Disorder, also received market authorization from the FDA in December of 2018, with breakthrough designation.
 
About the Teams
 
Pear’s cross-functional Program Teams work together to advance a PDT from concept to market and throughout its lifecycle to benefit people living with serious diseases. The Program Team provides cross-functional leadership, drives execution for activities on the program, and owns the strategy, priorities, and roadmap for the PDT throughout its entire lifecycle. These teams own both strategy and integrated execution for the products within the program, and they include core representatives from Product Management, Commercial, Clinical/Medical, Regulatory, Patient Services, and Alliance Management. The Program Teams are led by the Portfolio Directors (PD).
 
The Portfolio team reports dual-line into both the Chief Product Officer and the Chief Operating Officer/Chief Financial Officer, occupying a unique cross-functional vantage point within the Pear team. In addition to overseeing strategy and execution from assets/products in Discovery through Commercial, the Portfolio team is also responsible for the ongoing evolution of Pear’s Therapeutic Development Process (TDP), which blends the traditional “asset based” pathway typical for biopharma compound development with an agile consumer/high-tech product development process that relies on product management, software engineering and user-centered design.
 
 
What you’ll do
The Portfolio Director/Senior Director will serve as the cross-functional leader of 1-2 Program Teams. Responsibilities include:
  • Advance a prescription digital therapeutic (PDT) from its early concept stage to marketed product and throughout its ongoing lifecycle by marshalling the activities of the Program Team. This involves two core responsibilities:
  • Define and document a unified, coherent and pressure-tested program strategy, roadmap, and business plan for the PDT that connects patient, provider and payor needs to the functional requirements of the product.
    • Maintain a single source of truth for the PDT roadmap weaves together both software and non-software activities. Ensure development plans are executed to plan, and proactively identify, adjudicate and resolve unexpected issues.
  • Lead a collaborative program team, consisting of representatives from key functional teams; identify and manage conflicts from different working and communication styles. These teams own both strategy and integrated execution for the products within the program, and they include core representatives from Product Management, Commercial, Clinical/Medical, Regulatory, Patient Services, and Alliance Management.
  • Serve on the senior steering committees of our partner organizations representing the product under development.
  • Represent the program to senior management (C-level and VP-level) and external stakeholders such as the board of directors, facilitating discussions round progress and strategic alternatives.
  • Proactively identify, communicate and mitigate development and commercialization plan risks.
  • Ensure a smooth flow of requirements and business context to technology, product designers and other key stakeholders at Pear.
  • Lead development and integration of corporate, functional, and program goals with the Executive Team and Program Teams, ensuring alignment to the PDT roadmaps and plans, and clarifying organizational priorities.
 

What you have

Education & Experience
  • Masters degree or above in either business administration, software engineering or hard sciences, or bachelor’s degree with equivalent experience
  • Career history that illustrates your ability to become ultra-competent quickly in new, diverse functions and/or domains
  • At least 5 years of senior level cross-functional team leadership (for instance as a program executive), with an impeccable track record for building high performance teams, ensuring team alignment, driving team communications and incorporating knowledge from multiple functional domains. Ideal candidates will have independently driven high-stakes development projects to completion in other organizations
  • At least 5 years of career project management experience, with the demonstrated ability to manage complex delivery timelines, identify and mitigate risks, and resolve interdependencies using influence (rather than authority). Ideally, experience in advancing a therapeutic or medical device through a development process that involves coordinating multiple functions
  • At least some familiarity with regulatory issues around therapeutics, and/or software as a medical device (including 21CFR part 820)

  • Results-oriented and fast-paced, able to work in an ambiguous environment 
  • A keen nose for risk, ability to flag early, and open mind for creative solutions to ensure program success
  • Strong intuition for how to communicate to diverse audiences, whether it’s a program team, the wider company, end users, partners, the press, etc.
  • Exemplary written and verbal communication skills - able to produce board-level communication with minimal guidance
  • Comfortable creating and developing business plans including financial forecasts
  • Proven capability to balance multiple projects, deadlines, and requests with ease
